6. Lease Transfer Listings

Past Tenants provides a marketplace-style feature for tenants to list eligible lease transfers. By creating a lease transfer listing, you acknowledge and agree to the following conditions:

  • You must be the current lawful tenant or be authorised to represent the tenant for the property listed.
  • You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all information provided, including rent, lease dates, remaining term, fees, amenities, parking and internet details.
  • Listings automatically expire after 14 days unless renewed. Expired listings may be hidden or closed.
  • Contact information is protected; enquiries are routed via our platform messaging (no public emails/phones).
  • You must comply with your lease agreement and local tenancy laws, including any requirements to obtain landlord/agent consent to transfer a lease.
  • Paid or promoted listings (if offered) are clearly labelled. Fees for optional promotion are non‑refundable once a campaign has commenced.
  • We may remove or suspend listings that are misleading, fraudulent, duplicate, or otherwise violate these Terms.

Prohibited for Lease Transfers:

  • Asking for unlawful key money or fees not permitted by law
  • Posting properties you do not presently lease or have authority to list
  • Publishing personal contact information in the listing description

7. Messaging and Communication

Past Tenants provides an internal messaging system to facilitate communication between users, particularly for lease transfer inquiries. By using our messaging features, you agree to the following:

  • Messages are private between the sender and recipient, but may be reviewed by our moderation team if reported for violations.
  • You must not share personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles) in messages, unless the conversation has progressed to a point where both parties consent to exchange details.
  • Messages must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy and Content Guidelines.
  • Spam, harassment, fraudulent offers, or any attempt to circumvent our platform for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate messaging privileges for users who violate these terms.
  • Messages related to lease transfers must be genuine inquiries or responses. Users may not use the messaging system to solicit unrelated services or goods.

Best Practices for Messaging:

  • Be respectful and professional in all communications
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Report any suspicious or inappropriate messages immediately
  • Keep conversations relevant to the lease transfer or review topic

8. Intellectual Property Rights

Our Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Past Tenants and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Your Content:

  • You retain ownership of content you post
  • When you delete your account, your posts will belong to Past Tenants
  • You grant us a license to use, display, and distribute your content
  • You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to share your content
  • We may remove content that violates these terms

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by ourPrivacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations

Service Availability:

Reviews and content are user-generated and represent individual experiences. We do not verify the accuracy of all content and cannot guarantee its reliability. However, we may reach out to users to request proof of residency to verify they had lived at the reviewed property when required.

Limitation of Liability:

Past Tenants shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our Service.

11. Account Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.
